The Transportation Safety Administration says a traveler tried to sneak a handgun onto a flight – inside a hen.
Brokers seized the gun on the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Worldwide Airport in Florida on Sept. 27, TSA spokesperson Sari Koshetz mentioned. The traveler was headed to Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, the TSA mentioned. TSA didn’t specify the gun’s mannequin.
The company delivered information of the weird discovery on social media in a pun-filled Instagram put up this week.
“We hate to beak it to you right here, however stuffing a firearm in your vacation chicken for journey is only a baste of time,” TSA wrote in its post. “This concept wasn’t even half-baked.”
The handgun was wrapped in a paper or plastic protecting and stuffed inside a Kikiri Quirch model baking hen.

The TSA used the incident to remind the general public of its firearm coverage.
Unloaded firearms are permitted aboard a flight in the event that they’re declared checked in as baggage inside a hard-sided container that should “fully safe the firearm from being accessed,” according to the TSA.
It was unclear if the gun was loaded or if the traveler was charged with against the law. Koshetz advised USA TODAY a legal investigation by the Division of Homeland Safety was ongoing.
